A kölykök hathetes korában elkísértük a tenyésztőhöz.
Imádja a simogatást, végtelenül barátságos — élmény vele bárhová elmenni.
Otthon a család kedvence.
A kiállítások világa
Még most is hihetetlen számomra.
Egy héttel később Bolognába utaztunk a World Dog Show 2026 rendezvényre. Ha már 850 km-t autóztunk, elindultunk mindhárom eseményen:
(1) Club Show,
(2) ENCI Winner,
(3) WDS 2026.
A World Winner rozetta azóta is az íróasztalom felett lóg, a dolgozószobám középpontjában.
(1) Club Show,
(2) ENCI Winner,
(3) WDS 2026.
The Miracle of Chance and Mutual Choice
About five years ago, a dear friend of ours wanted to get a Golden Retriever, but the waiting list was far too long. At that time, our previous Hovawart, Bella, was already ten years old (she sadly “passed away” not long after), and our friend had known her since puppyhood. She didn’t know that blond Hovawarts existed — once she found out, she immediately started looking for a breeder to get such a puppy herself.
When the puppies were six weeks old, we accompanied her to the breeder. We didn’t expect Bono to choose us. We fell in love instantly, and it was clear he would become the new member of our family. The special twist in the story is that all eight puppies of the Happy Heroes litter already had homes — except one reservation that was cancelled on that very day.
It truly became a fateful meeting. We were simply meant for each other. 😊
He came home with us as the next “family pet”. At that time, we knew nothing about Hovawart breeding — only Bono’s breeder mentioned on the way home: “This puppy is far too perfect, he should be included in breeding.” I made a somewhat careless promise to try, if she helped us with the first steps — even though I truly knew nothing about this world.
Growing Up and Becoming the Family Companion
As a puppy, Bono learned a lot from Bella, and his genetic background also contributed to him becoming a perfectly socialized, confident dog in any situation. You can take him to a large shopping mall, where people and children stop to admire him. He loves being petted, is endlessly friendly — it’s a joy to go anywhere with him.
At home, he is everyone’s favourite. When we’re in the garden, he nudges us until he finally gets a stroking hand. Connection and touch are essential to him. If needed, he even lies under our heads like a pillow — as long as we’re together.
But he also carries the true Hovawart spirit: when it comes to the fence, he announces with a deep, majestic voice that strangers may not enter. If the driveway gate is accidentally left open, he lies right in the middle and guards the property. If someone passes by — even with a dog — he never thinks of leaving, he simply watches sharply to show that this is his territory.
We’ve been attending training since his puppyhood, and we still work regularly. He loves learning and is very talented. We train obedience and protection work, and earlier we also did tracking. We completed the IBgH exam and competition with 99 points — believe me, he got a huge bone afterwards. 😊
The World of Dog Shows
As I promised Bono’s breeder (with whom we still have a very warm relationship), we entered the world of dog shows already in junior class. First he became Junior Champion in Hungary, then Adult Champion, and CACIB and BOB titles started coming continuously.
Since we love travelling and exploring, we soon found ourselves visiting neighbouring countries. Hungary is surrounded by many nations — Bono has now earned the Champion title in nine countries. The breeder was right: this blond beauty is truly “very much in order”.
2026 brought the big breakthrough. At the Austrian Club Show, among 44 Hovawarts — 27 of them males — Bono became Best Male and BOS, and received the IHF Champion Anwartschaft. It still feels unbelievable. The German and Austrian judges said such beautiful things about him that it warms my heart even today.
A week later, we travelled to Bologna for the World Dog Show 2026. After driving 850 km, we entered all three events:
(1) Club Show,
(2) ENCI Winner,
(3) WDS 2026.
Many beautiful Hovawarts arrived from numerous countries. We competed in the Champion class, and already on the first two days (Club + ENCI) Bono earned CACIB and BOB. Enormous joy — but we were still nervous about the WDS.
And then the miracle happened.
In the Champion class, then in the Best Male selection, and finally in the ultimate comparison, the German judge stepped toward Bono so decisively that I could hardly believe my eyes. He said: “The choice was easy,” because Bono is so beautiful that it wasn’t even a question for him.
The World Winner rosette has been hanging above my desk ever since, at the centre of my study.
Everyday Life and Eternal Love
None of this changed anything, of course. We still play around, go to training, walk a lot and explore the world. We live in Budapest, in a green suburban area with many wonderful places nearby: green fields, a sand quarry, and the Danube with sections where dogs can swim.
In summer we head toward the water, and from autumn to spring we are masters of long walks. We love rolling in snow (and mud), and running endlessly. Bono is an excellent companion — and his need for movement even keeps my own health in good shape.
Poiché amiamo viaggiare e esplorare, ci siamo ritrovati a visitare i Paesi vicini.
(1) Club Show
(2) ENCI Winner
(3) WDS 2026
(1) Club Show
(2) ENCI Winner
(3) WDS 2026
Cud przypadków i wzajemnego wybrania
Gdy szczenięta miały sześć tygodni, pojechaliśmy razem do hodowcy.
Droga do dorosłości i domowy towarzysz
A jeśli ktoś przechodzi ulicą — nawet z psem — nie przychodzi mu do głowy, by wyjść.
Najpierw węgierskie ringi przyniosły mu tytuł Junior Championa, później Championa dorosłego, a następnie zaczęły napływać kolejne tytuły CACIB i BOB.
Do dziś trudno mi w to uwierzyć.
Tydzień później pojechaliśmy do Bolonii na World Dog Show 2026.
Skoro przejechaliśmy 850 km, wystartowaliśmy we wszystkich trzech wydarzeniach:
(1) Club Show,
(2) ENCI Winner,
(3) WDS 2026.
Rozeta World Winner do dziś wisi nad moim biurkiem, w samym centrum mojego gabinetu.
Codzienność i wieczna miłość
